ABOUT OUR CHEF

Brian Turner is one of Britain's most successful and well-known chefs. As well as running highly respected restaurants in the UK, he has become a successful television personality, appearing regularly on Daily Cooks and Saturday Cooks, and BBC's Ready Steady Cook. Brian worked for many years as resident chef on Granada's 'This Morning' and had his own BBC series 'Anything you can Cook'.

After training at some of the most prestigious hotels and restaurants in Europe, including 'Simpson's in the Strand' and 'The Savoy Grill', Brian went to the 'Beau Rivage Palace' in Lausanne, returning to England to work at 'Claridge's' and then the 'Capital Hotel' where he and Richard Shepherd earned a prized Michelin star.

During his period at the 'Capital' Turner was responsible for the launch of the 'Greenhouse Restaurant' and the 'Metro Wine Bar', becoming executive chef of both. Among the many well-known chefs who worked with Turner at the 'Capital' are Gary Rhodes and Shaun Hill who now have their own Michelin-starred restaurants.

In 1986 Turner opened his own restaurant 'Turner's', in Walton Street, Knightsbridge, which set new standards for the British chef-owned restaurants – attracting a blend of local and international regulars. In 2001 whilst Turner's was at it's height Brian took another momentous career step and sold Turner's.

In February 2002 Brian Turner's Restaurant opened at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Birmingham's NEC, in association with the Aramark Contract Catering Company. This was set up as a three year contract.

In April 2003 Brian launched ‘Brian Turner Mayfair’ at the Millennium Hotel, London Mayfair. The restaurant serves modern British food, within a relaxed and comfortable environment, quality at a reasonable price.

January 2005 saw the launch of Turner's Grill at The Copthorne Hotel Slough-Windsor, a 36 seater restaurant serving simple, honest food. In July 2006 Turner's Grill at the Birmingham Copthorne Hotel opened, a 50 seater restaurant with promises of more to follow.

Despite his hectic schedule, Brian still manages to be heavily committed to various charities.

Awards and Honours

In 2002 in the Queen's Birthday Honours Brian was awarded a CBE for his services to tourism and training in the catering industry, making a visit to the Palace to receive his gong!
