ABOUT OUR CHEF

Indian chef Reza Mahammad has been running his own restaurant, Star of India in Chelsea, for more than 25 years. He also runs a successful catering company which provides Mediterranean, Oriental, Middle Eastern and Indian food to a celebrity clientele.

Reza's father was one of the first Indian chefs to arrive in the UK and was the founder of Veerswamy, thought to be Britain's oldest Indian restaurant, so it is little wonder that his son followed the same path.

Reza cut his televisual teeth on Flavours of India in 1993, but really came into his own as co-presenter with Sanjeev Baskar on UKTV's Delhi Belly in 2001. A second series of this talked-about series is in the pipeline.

His presence on UKTV continued with Coconut Coast and his own series, United States of Reza, which aired in December 2004. Cooking aside, Reza has appeared on A Place in France for Channel 4 and BBC1's The Weakest Link!

His first book Rice Spice and all Things Nice was published by Simon and Schuster in November 2006.
